For “insulting the National Army” | “Military Court” in Afrin sentences activist to a year of prison

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that the Military Court in Afrin city in the north western Aleppo countryside, which is held by Turkish-backed factions, have issued a resolution stating the detention of the activist known initially as “M.D.”, who was displaced from Damascus, for 11 months. Moreover, he is sentenced to pay a fine estimated at 2,000 Turkish liras for “defamation, threatening to murder, prejudice to religious sentiment and insulting the National Army”, under the Resolution No. 251 issued on July 27.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the activist demanded opening an investigation regarding the leaders of Jaish Al-Islam and their involvement with the regime security services, and the acts of rape by prominent figures of the faction against girls during their control over parts of Rif Dimashq. The activist made these demands through a video tape on his wife’s “Facebook” page.

Moreover, the activist demanded that three commanders of Jaish Al-Islam be referred to investigation including the commander “H.Q.”, for “sheltering members of the regime forces, betraying the Syrian revolution and affecting the public security in areas held by the Turkish forces and their proxies.

On May 10, SOHR sources reported that a patrol of the military police in Afrin city arrested a displaced activist from Rif Dimashq yesterday for “circulating false information about commanders of Jaysh Al-Islam, citing strife and discrediting the Syrian Revolution with the aim of gaining fame,” according to the statement issued by the military police.
