“Humanity and Security” campaign | Security forces in Al-Hawl camp arrest nearly 30 people and fill up trenches

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported that Internal Security Forces (Asayish) arrested nearly 27 people in Al-Hawl camp in Al-Hasakah countryside as a part of the security campaign dubbed “Humanity and Security,” which was launched on Thursday, August 25.

SOHR sources have reported that all arrested people are members of ISIS cells and “collaborators” with these cells.

Moreover, Asayish Forces have filled up four trenches in the first section of the camp with earth, where ISIS cells have used these trenches to hide.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that the general command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in north-eastern Syria announced the launch of the second phase of the “Humanity and Security” campaign in Al-Hawl camp in the far south-eastern region of Al-Hasakah countryside to pursue and combat ISIS cells inside the camp.

On August 11, SOHR activists reported a new murder that occurred in Al-Hawl camp in the far south-east of Al-Hasakah, when Internal Security Forces “Asayish” found two Iraqi brothers dead with gun wounds in the second section of Al-Hawl camp.

It is worth noting that ISIS cells abducted the two Iraqi men and then shot them dead.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of murder crimes documented in the camp since early 2022 has risen to 28, which left 30 people dead; and they are as follows:

  • Eight Iraqi refugees, including two women.

  • 12 Syrian people, including eight women.

  • Eight unidentified women.

  • A medic was killed in the post where he worked in the camp.

  • An unidentified man.
