Unstable security | Violent clashes erupt between Al-Muwali tribe and members of military police patrol in rural Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported violent clashes this evening with medium and light machineguns between members of a military police patrol and tribesmen of Al-Muwali tribe in Kokan village in Ma’batli district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo.

The clashes erupted following the military police’s attempt to arrest a man from Al-Muwali tribe, before he sized a vehicle of the military police patrol and arrested several members who were in the vehicle. Meanwhile, tension is growing in the village.

On August 23, SOHR activists documented the injury of several civilians due to clashes with medium weapons and machineguns between “Ramo” and “Salqiny” families in residential areas in Al-Bab city in east Aleppo countryside, amid calls by the residents upon security forces to interfere and break up the clashes.
