Syrian desert | Coalition aircraft fly over Al-Tanaf base, while Russian jets strike ISIS hideouts

SOHR activists have reported that Russian fighter jets have executed airstrikes on positions in Jabal Al-Dahhak near Al-Sokhnah city and the villages of Taybeh and Al-Kom north of Al-Sokhnah in the eastern countryside of Homs.

According to SOHR activists, Russian airstrikes hit ISIS hideouts and caves.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, International Coalition aircraft flew over the 55-kilometres zone near the Syria-Turkey-Iraq border triangle, coinciding with the approach of Russian and Syrian regime warplanes to the airspace of the international coalition base in the 55-kilometres zone. Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets bombarded Al-Hamad desert.

On August 21, SOHR activists reported that the “International Coalition” forces are conducting military exercises with live ammunition in the 55-kilometer zone in the Syrian desert at the junction of Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi borders, where the warplanes of the Coalition participated in the exercises.

While, on August 14, SOHR sources reported hearing loud explosions in the 55-kilometre zone near the Syria-Iraq-Jordan border triangle due to joint military drills conducted by the International Coalition and “Jaysh Maghawir Al-Thawra” which is affiliated to the “Free Army.”

According to SOHR sources, the drills, which simulated a real battle, started this morning, where the participating forces shot different targets.

In the 83rd month of Russian military operations in Syria, SOHR activists document the death of four ISIS members and injury of nine others in more than 155 Russian airstrikes on their positions in the Syrian desert, mostly killed and injured in Al-Raqqah desert, Deir Ezzor, Homs and Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle.
