“Shabiha-like” behaviour | Displaced civilian from Al-Bokamal brutally beaten by members of Jaysh Al-Sharqiyah in northern Aleppo

Aleppo province: SOHR sources reported that members of Jaysh Al-Sharqiyah have assaulted a displaced civilian from Al-Bokamal city in Deir Ezzor countryside yesterday.

According to SOHR sources, the civilian was brutally beaten with rifle butts by members of the Turkish-backed Jaysh Al-Sharqiyah in Al-Villat street in Afrin city in north Aleppo countryside for “insulting a commander of Jaysh Al-Sharqiyah.”

SOHR sources have confirmed that the civilian had posted a status on Whatsapp showing a picture of a mad man with a caption reads “Abu Ali.” The commander of Jaysh Al-Sharqiyah, who is also nicknamed “Abu Ali,” thought he was the one meant on this status, so he sent members of the faction to the house of the civilian where they brutally beat him.

SOHR sources have also reported that a dispute erupted months ago between a young man from “Al-Jisat” tribe from Al-Mayadeen city, who had worked for Jaysh Al-Sharqiyyah, and members of the same faction, which is led by a man from Al-Bakarah tribe known by his initials as H. H. According to SOHR sources the dispute erupted following disagreements over revenue-sharing of stolen objects in Afrin city which led to the designation of the young man.

The dispute evolved later, after the young man posted a status on Whatsapp, similar to that one which the civilian from Al-Bokamal posted. Members of the faction assaulted the young man and beat him brutally, causing cuts and bruises all over his body, where he was taken to the military hospital in Afrin city.

Meanwhile, members of “Al-Jisat” tribe threatened to attack headquarters of Jaysh Al-Sharqiyyah, unless the faction did not hand over the militiamen who attacked the young man. A state of tension is growing in the city, amid concerns about expected clashes between “Al-Jisat” tribesmen and Jaysh Al-Sharqiyyah militiamen.

On August 30, SOHR sources reported that members of Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah faction severely beat a man from Manbij, who lives in Afrin, for refusing to pay levies to Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah members.

While, on August 25, Al-Sham Corps members severely beat a civilian from Kabashin village and took over his house by force in order to turn it into military headquarters.
