Iran’s activity in Syria | IRGC militia opens intelligence hub in eastern Homs countryside

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) militia has opened an “intelligence” information and documentation centre at one of its headquarters near Palmyra national hospital.

SOHR sources have reported that the main aim of opening this centre is to gather information on their “hostile actors.”

The new centre is a reference for all Iranian-backed militias deployed in the eastern countryside of Homs.

This intelligence hub is the first of its kind to be established by Iranian-backed militias in Syria.

On August 29, Iranian-backed militias in Palmyra, Al-Qariyatayan and Mahin summoned civilians who had struck settlements with regime forces and had previously worked with the forces supported by the International Coalition for investigation, without informing the security authorities in those areas.

This came as a precaution measure for fear of renewed airstrikes by the “International Coalition,” targeting Iranian-backed militias in areas west of Euphrates and in Syrian desert.
