Deir Ezzor | National Defence members put on high alert over arresting warden

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that National Defence members were put on high alert in Deir Ezzor, over the arrest of the warden of the National Defence prison by a criminal security patrol on cinema foad street.

According to the sources, the warden was arrested under the direct order of the head of Deir Ezzor, for violations and abuses, such as involving in drug trafficking and brothels, and for being accused of killing at least three prisoners in the National Defence prison.

The warden of the National Defence prison has had a close relationship with Firas Al-Iraqiyah, the national defence commander in Deir Ezzor since the establishment of the National Defence forces.

On September 3, SOHR sources reported the unprecedented deployment of Iranian-backed militiamen of Afghan and other non-Syrian nationalities in Al-Joura neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor city. The Iranian-backed militiamen, who were put on high alert, roamed in cars with sunshade windows in the neighbourhood’s streets while carrying flags of Hezbollah and others with words written on them, which read “Oh, Hussein.”

On the other hand, security checkpoints imposed strict security measures on the passers-by in Port Said street in Deir Ezzor city.

Al-Sejn street in Al-Joura neighbourhood had witnessed heavy gunfire following a fight between militiamen of Usud al-Sharqiyyah and civilians. The fight erupted after a patrol of the military security service arrested two members of Usud al-Sharqiyyah from Al-She’aytat for “beating a civilian for unknown reasons” in Al-Wadi street.
