Searching for ISIS’ buried treasures | Afghan “Fatimiyoun” militia expels residents from their homes in village in Palmyra

Two days ago, Afghan “Fatimiyoun” militia informed the residents of Twinan village, 85 kilometres to the north of Palmyra, to evacuate their homes in the village under the pretext that the residents’ houses were close to Al-Husky gas field, where Russian troops are stationed, 10 kilometres away from the village, under the pretext of saving the civilians lives from possible ISIS attacks on the field and surrounding residential areas.

Syrian Observatory sources confirmed that Iranian-backed militias had asked the people to leave the village to search for antiquities and ISIS’s treasures that are hidden in the caves in Twinan village.

The families left the village within hours, some people headed towards Al-Mansoura village in Al-Raqqah countryside, while the others headed towards Palmyra city in eastern Homs countryside.

SOHR sources stated that Iranian-backed militias continue to search for ISIS’ treasures and gold that ISIS cells left behind in the villages, in cooperation with people from those villages. The militias also brought in heavy machinery for drilling and excavation.

It is worth noting that Iranian-backed militias are stationed in a school in Twinan village, and during the past months, have searched for all archaeological sites near the village, while excavations are going on in the eastern part of the village.
