Old ordnance | Landmine explosion kills civilian in Homs countryside

Homs province: SOHR activists have documented the death of a civilian affected by the wounds he sustained yesterday, due to the explosion of an old landmine of war remnants, while he was herding sheep in Al-Bayarat Al-Gharbiyah area in eastern Homs countryside in the Syrian desert.

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 177 civilians, including ten women and 91 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2022. In addition, 255 civilians, including 16 women and 143 children, sustained various injuries in the same period. Among the total death toll, a man and his son were killed in the collapse of a war-damaged building in Darya city in Rif Dimashq, as well as the death of four civilians in the collapse of another building in Jubar neighbourhood.
