Ongoing violations | “National Army” sell properties of displaced people and impose royalties in Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah faction has felled 400 olive trees in Al-Mahmodiyah neighbourhood in Afrin, and divided the agricultural land for establishing building sections and selling each section for nearly 6,000 USDs. The land belongs to a civilian from Kafr Shail in Afrin countryside.

Moreover, the same faction imposed 200 USDs royalties on each farmer in the same neighbourhood for protection, amid threats of forcefully taking over the lands in case they refuse to pay the royalties.

According to reliable SOHR sources, members of the Turkish-backed “National Army” factions sold two houses in Al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhood in Afrin city for 900 USDs and 700 USDs respectively. The houses belong to two civilians from Bulbul and Ma’batly districts.

This comes in light of the ongoing violations by Turkish-backed factions in “Olive Branch” area in Afrin city against the civilians’ properties, in addition to imposing royalties.

On September 5, a member of Al-Sultan Murad faction sold a house in Afrin for 1,500 USD. The house is owned by a resident of Ain Dara village in Shirawa district of Afrin countryside.

Moreover, member of Al-Hamza faction sold three houses in Ashrafieh neighbourhood of Afrin city for 3,000 USD and fled to Turkey.

Furthermore, a member of Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah sold a house in Ashrafieh neighbourhood in Afrin for 1,000 USD after he seized the house by the force of arms which was owned by a civilian from Afrin.

In this context, members of Nur Al-Din Al-Zanki faction seized agricultural land of two hectares in Diwa Fawqani village in the Jendires district under the pretext of establishing a military post. Although the civilian lodged a complaint with the so-called “the Right Restitution Committee (RRC) ” against members of Nur Al-Din Al-Zanki faction, the committee did not move a finger.
