Teachers’ protests | Protests sweep into Turkish-held areas in Aleppo countryside

Aleppo province: SOHR activists reported that teachers staged protests in areas controlled by Turkish forces and their proxy factions in Aleepo countryside, protesting the deteriorating educational quality and poor living conditions of teachers.

According to SOHR activists, dozens of teachers in the towns of Al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, Azaz and Marea’ in the northern countryside of Aleppo, have staged peaceful protests, demanding improvement of their living conditions, raising their wages, and a unified internal system for schools, amid veiled accusations of stealing their salaries and questions about the main source of salaries.

A few hours ago, SOHR activists reported that dozens of teachers gathered, Thursday, September 8, in Akhtarin city in Azaz countryside, north of Aleppo, to protest the deteriorating educational quality and the poor living conditions of teachers in the area under the control of Turkish forces and their proxy factions. The protesters call for salary increases to fit with inflation caused by the collapse of the Turkish lira against foreign currencies.
