Regime atrocities | Faction commander dies under torture in Sednaya prison

Homs province: Manhal Al-Dahiq, aka “godfather of reconciliation deals” in northern Homs countryside, died under torture in Syrian regime prison after three years of the arrest.

The dead man is a prominent former commander of “Jayish Al-Tawhid” armed opposition factions.

According to SOHR sources, the former leader of the opposition factions conducted a Russian-sponsored reconciliation deal in 2018.

The commander was arrested nearly three years ago and died under torture in regime prison, while his family did not receive his body.

According to SOHR sources, the family of the commander knew about their beloved death when the commander sister’s husband, a businessman close to Russian forces and in charge of the nitrogen fertilizer plant in Homs informed them of his death under torture, while a man close to Syrian regime’s “security branches” assured that the commander died under torture in regime prison on August 1.

SOHR activists reported that dozens of civilians in Talbiseh city in northern Homs countryside of Homs performed Absentee funeral prayer on Manhal Al-Dahiq, commander of “Jayish Al-Tawhid Brigade,” and fired heavily.

The Russian forces granted the commander a “thank you card” for his achievements and his efforts he exerted in mediating in conducting settlements and reconciliation deals with the armed opposition factions in northern Homs countryside of Homs.

These settlement deals led to the departure of thousands of faction members for northern Syria, and the taking over of Homs by Russian and regime forces in 2018, but all of his efforts were not a good reason for regime who killed the commander under torture.
