Ongoing violations | National Army factions arrest and beat civilians in Afrin and its countryside

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of a civil police patrol arrested two civilians from Sheikh Al-Hadid and Jendires districts in Afrin countryside for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration” in order to collect ransoms during the past few days.

On September 10, members of the security forces of Al-Sultan Murad faction severely beat a displaced man in front of a bakery that distribute subsidised bread in Al-Zaydiyah district of Afrin.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that militiamen stationed at a checkpoint of Al-Hamza Division at the entrance of Bablit village in Afrin countryside arrested a civilian from Afrin canton on September 8. The Turkish-backed militiamen beat the civilian brutally and held him for hours, before he was release, under the pretext that “he refused to stop at the checkpoint.”

On the other hand, members of a Turkish intelligence patrol arrested the elder of Darkariyah village in Ma’batli district in Afrin countryside on September 7 for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration.”

According to SOHR source, a commander from Al-Hamza Division known as A. A. filed a “malicious” complaint against the village’s elder who had prevented the division’s members from using heavy diggers and earth-moving machineries for digging and excavating farmlands to search for buried treasures.

It is worth noting that the man had been arrested by Al-Hamza Division for the same reason, and he was released after his family had paid a ransom.
