Against increasing arbitrary arrests in September | Residents of Daraa protest demanding the release of detainees

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that dozens of residents of Nawa city in western Daraa countryside have went out on protests following the arrests by regime security services against civilians in Daraa and its countryside, amid closure of roads with burning tires and demanding the release of all the detainees.

Yesterday, Syrian regime forces arrested a “60-year-old” civilian from Jassim city, on the road to Aqraba town in the northern countryside of Daraa.

On September 11, SOHR sources had reported that regime soldiers stationed at a checkpoint of the political security service near Muthbayn Deir Al-Bakht area in Al-Sanamayn city in northern Daraa arrested a civilian from Daraa for unknown reasons.

On September 11, SOHR activists documented the arrest of two young men by regime forces on Ankhil-Nawa road in areas controlled by Syrian regime forces and their proxy militias in north-western countryside of Daraa.

On September 10, SOHR activists reported that regime Security Services arrested a former opposition factions’ commander, who underwent reconciliation, at Al-Qanya checkpoints in northern Daraa countryside, and took him to an unknown destination. However, the charges pressed against him were not identified.

SOHR activists reported that regime forces stationed at Tayara checkpoint arrested nearly ten civilians after the failure of a meeting on September 7 between Syrian regime officials and the dignitaries of Jassim on Jassim-Nawa road, west of Daraa, when regime forces set up a checkpoint there.

On September 8, the Military Police of the Syrian regime forces carried out a massive campaign of arrests of young men for “not performing “compulsory service.” Regime forces arrested more than ten young men near Panorama roundabout in Daraa Al-Mahatah.
