Palmyra | ISIS cells kidnap two persons and steal nearly 800 sheep

Homs province: SOHR sources have reported that an armed group of ISIS cells has arrested two persons while herding a flock of sheep in Jabal Al-Ammour area near Palmyra city in the eastern countryside of Homs. The armed group also stole the flock which comprised 800 sheep, and the group was seen heading towards the mountain areas near Al-Sukhnah city.

According to SOHR sources, the two persons are from Al-Ammour tribe. The security service in that area were informed of the incident. However, they took no action to find the kidnapped persons.

It is worth noting that ISIS cells are active and numerous in Palmyra area in the eastern countryside of Homs and in the desert, where they have carry out frequent attacks targeting regime forces and Iranian-backed militias, leaving casualties on many occasions.

Also, ISIS is searching for any resources enabling them to continue their combat operations and launch surprise attacks on regime forces. It also depends on imposing levies under the pretext of “collecting zakat,” and kidnap people to collect ransoms in return for their release.
