SOHR: Israeli Airstrike Claims Lives Of 5 Soldiers In Syria

Five soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike, targeting Damascus International Airport and other areas near the capital.

“Nearly at 12.45 a.m., the Israeli enemy carried out a missile aggression from the direction of north-eastern side of Tiberias lake, targeting Damascus international airport and some points to the south of Damascus,” state-run SANA news agency cited a  military source as saying.

The source added, “The Syrian air defense repelled the aggression missile and downed most of them.”

It confirmed that the aggression claimed the lives of five soldiers in addition to reporting material losses.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the Israeli attack targeted positions in Al-Ghasola farms (Mazarae’ Al-Ghasola) near Damascus International Airport, the vicinity of Al-Sayda Zainab area and Al-Kaswa area in Rif Dimashq, where Iran-backed militias are stationed.

Israel has hit sites inside Syria 25th times since the beginning of 2022.

On September 6, Aleppo International Airport underwent a second Israeli missile attack in one week, leaving material losses in the airport.

On the same day, posts in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and its countryside were subjected to another Israeli missile attack two hours after targeting Aleppo Airport.
