Video | Armed field commanders chant pro-Hezbollah slogans in front of Umayyad Mosque

The Syrian Observatory has obtained a copy of a video footage showing field commanders of the Lebanese Hezbollah in the perimeter of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus chanting slogans glorifying the Lebanese Hezbollah and Hassan Nassrallah. SOHR was unable to verify the time when this video footage was taken.

SOHR sources have denounced the presence of armed members of Hezbollah in that area, at a time when regime authorities seem indifferent to protect convoys of Shiaa visitors.

One of SOHR activists in Damascus has deride this action, saying “this is the Umayyad Mosque, and not Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

According to SOHR sources, individuals of the Shiaa community held funeral reception tents in the first week of September, commemorating anniversary of a Shiaa event.

Meanwhile, Damascus and Rif Dimashq have experienced mass marches from the shrine of Sayeda Ruqayya to the shrine of Sayeda Zeinab commemorating the anniversary of the passing of forty days after the killing of “Imam Husayn” (Husayn Ibn Ali Ibn Abi Talib).
