Al-Suwaidaa | Civilians express their rejection of municipal elections and call for protests

Al-Suwaidaa province: SOHR sources have reported that a group of activists have called upon residents of cities and villages of in Al-Suwaidaa province, via social media, for joining a set-in protest demanding improvement of services, including electricity and drinking water, and provision of diesel used for heating, as well as demanding restorations of many rights which the province’s residents had been robbed of.

 

Meanwhile, Al-Suwaidaa province in south Syria has experienced protests against municipal elections and the closure of two voting centres, amid preparations for blocking Damascus-Al-Suwiadaa highway tomorrow.

 

In the same context, unknown individuals threw a stun grenade last night on the house of the secretary of “Al-Baath Party” branch in Al-Qurayya town, where residents considered this action as an expression of rejection of predominance by Al-Baath party on the affairs of the province and service and its corrupt members.

 

Moreover, several villages in Al-Suwaidaa province have boycotted the elections, as they were sure that the winners had been named previously by the regime’s government and that this election was just a show.
