SOHR: Turkish Forces Heavily Shell Villages in Hasakah

Turkish forces and Ankara-backed Syrian Islamist groups on Sunday bombarded several villages in Hasakah province, in northeast of Syria, with no casualties reported.

Nearly 60 rockets and artillery shells landed in villages between Amuda and Qamishli, including al-Jarnak, Hermrash and Badlu, the centre of Abu Rasin area, and several more villages in the region, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The Turkish forces and Syrian Islamist groups also bombarded Tel Ziwan village, east of Al-Qamishli, and the Syriac village of Rutal, north-west of Qahtaniyah district, SOHR added.

“However, no casualties have been reported so far,” the Britain-based monitoring group noted.

The shelling came only hours after SOHR pointed out the Turkish forces had renewed bombardments in areas falling under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near Aleppo.

“Turkish artillery shells hit areas in Qarmug village in the eastern countryside of Ain Al-Arab [Kobani], causing material damage only,” the monitor said earlier today.
