Homs | Violent explosions rock ammunition depot in eastern Homs countryside

Homs province: SOHR activists have reported that violent explosions have been heard in separate areas of the Homs countryside over the explosion of a warehouse containing a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, in an area between the villages of Al-Shattaya and Tal Shannan in Al-Farqalas district, nearly 20 kilometres away from eastern Homs.

The explosions lasted for several hours, igniting panic among the people as shrapnel and rockets flew from the warehouse.

Meanwhile, no confirmed reports have yet been received as to the causes of the explosion, whether it was caused by an external attack, or by an explosion from inside the warehouse due to a technical or artificial error.

Rescue, fire, and ambulance teams also headed to the site of the explosions. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
