SOHR: IS Suspects Kill Another SDF Member in Deir Ezzor

Another member of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed on Tuesday by gunmen believed to be Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria’s Deir Ezzor province, where the jihadist group is still active.

The incident took place in Jazarat al-Melaj village in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, where unidentified armed men opened fire at a group SDF fighters, leaving one of them killed and another wounded.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported this was the second attack of this kind against the SDF in the same area in less than 24 hours.

It occurred yesterday in the same village where IS jihadists on a motorbike killed one SDF member and injured another, SOHR added.

The extremist group has lately increased its terrorist activities in Deir Ezzor and surrounding areas.

Last Saturday, a SDF member was assassinated in Deir Ezzor province by IS suspects in the village of Hariza in north of Deir Ezzor countryside.

According to statistics provided by SOHR, 110 people have been killed as a result of IS terrorist attacks since January, including 37 civilians and 73 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
