Ongoing security campaigns | Security Forces arrest a media activist in Al-Raqqa

Al-Raqqa province: SOHR activists have reported that the Public Security in Al-Raqqa city arrested a media activist, while he was filming the comprehensive clinics building in Al-Raqqa to publish a special report about the preparing of a building for Cholera patients.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the activist works as a reporter for a local media agency in Al-Raqqa for two years, and he is known for his critical press reports regarding the living and social conditions, in addition to highlighting the suffering of refugees in makeshift camps.

This comes in light of the continuation of the arrests campaign against activists, especially those who have connections with external parties. Previously, the Security Forces arrested a group of activists and media activists including two women, who had worked in official and security institutions, where the two women were later released. However, the fate of the rest remained unknown.

It is worth noting that these campaigns came after the Autonomous Administration in northern and eastern of Syria issued an oath-taking law at the end of July, 2022, to pursue anyone who communicates with external parties to identify the perpetrators of a series of attacks by Turkish drones, targeting the Autonomous Administration areas in Ain Al-Arab, Al-Hasakah and Qamishly, killing civilians, women, children and military commanders.
