Deir Ezzor countryside | Oil well with production capacity of 1,500 barrels of crude oil per day near regime-held areas re-operated

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have monitored the re-operating of Al-Halabah oil well in Deir Ezzor countryside after maintenance operations were completed.

The oil well is located in Izbat Murat area, near the frontline between SDF-controlled areas and regime-held areas, and is one kilometre away from Regime-held areas.

The oil well has a production capacity of 1,500 barrels per day, as oil will be pumped into Ezbet oil field in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

On August 25, SOHR sources reported that residents of Al-Izbah seized Al-Jabr oil well in Deir Ezzor countryside, after clashes with an SDF patrol. The well is located in Al-Izbah area in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor and was operating with a production capacity of 2,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Areas held by the Autonomous Administration and especially Deir Ezzor, witnessed public protests due to lack of fuel and fuel’s high prices, where the lack of fuel negatively affected bakeries, production of bread and transportation methods.

While, on August 28, SOHR activists reported that an agreement took place between residents of Al-Azba area in Deir Ezzor on one hand and SDF on the other hand, regarding investing in Al-Jabr oil well in Al-Azba.

SOHR activists obtained a videotape showing residents carrying out pumping and extraction of oil in Al-Jabr well.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the residents and SDF agreed on investing in the well, following public protests. Moreover, a local investor mediated the reconciliation between both parties to guarantee that the residents get their share of the profit.
