Daraa security chaos | Unidentified gunmen assassinate Imam of mosque and his son

Daraa province: SOHR activists have monitored a new assassination in light of the security chaos in Daraa, where unidentified gunmen targeted the family of a mosque’s Imam in Tafs city in western Daraa countryside, killing the Imam and his son and severely injuring his wife, where she was moved to the National Hospital to receive proper medication.

This comes in light of the ongoing security chaos in different areas of Syria.

Since early 2022, the number of attacks documented by SOHR in Daraa province has risen to 392, which left 331 people dead; and they are as follows:

• 158 civilians, including four women and five children.

• 137 regime military personnel, “collaborators” with security services and members with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

• 21 former fighters who did not join any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals.

• Four ex-ISIS members.

• Seven unidentified people.

• Four militiamen of the Russian-backed 5th Corps.
