Tens anniversary of Al-Jawrah-Al-Qusour massacre | Hundreds of civilians killed by regime forces in Deir Ezzor city

SOHR renews its call for bringing the perpetrators and those involved in killing Syrian people to justice

On September 25, 2012, the regime-backed Republican Guard Forces committed a horrific massacre in the neighbourhoods of Al-Jawrah and Al-Qusour in Deir Ezzor, killing 400 civilians, including women, children and elderly people, in three days. Those civilians were extrajudicially killed in different inhumane ways, as some were shot dead, some were slaughtered with cleaver, while others were cremated.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) would like to bring to mind heinous massacres committed against innocent and peaceful Syrian civilians by all conflicting and warring powers in Syrian territory, especially since killing of Syrians has been still continuing for over a decade.

We, at SOHR, renew our calls to bring all those responsible and those who aided and abetted the killing of Syrian people to justice. We also appeal to the international community and united nations to intensify their efforts to reach a political settlement which could potentially put an end to bloodshed in Syria.
