Ongoing protests | Teaching cadres protest Autonomous Administration’s new curriculum east of Deir Ezzor
Deir Ezzor province: Teaching staff and a number of residents of Al-Shuhail town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have participated in a protest to express their rejection over the new educational curriculum developed by the “Autonomous Administration” in north-eastern Syria.
The protestors have issued a statement rejecting the curriculum, which the teachers consider unacceptable because of the various violations of religion and customs of society.
According to SOHR activists, the statement issued by the educational staff and the residents also called for a salary increase for the employees, the appointment of school guards, providing job opportunities, the provision of logistical support to schools, the activation of the workers’ law, paying attention to school health and nutrition services, and the payment of salaries for the past year.
On September 22, Several male and female teachers participated in a protest staged at Euphrates educational complex in Abu Hammam and Al-Kashkiyah towns in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside to express their rejection of the new educational curriculum developed by the “Autonomous Administration” in north-eastern Syria.
The protestors also demanded a monthly salary increase that is nearly 260,000 SYP, equivalent to only 57 USD.
