Security crackdown | Regime forces arrest nearly 15 people for “driving unregistered motorcycles” in Al-Mayadeen east of Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have monitored a campaign by Syrian regime police patrols to pursue unregistered motorcycle owners.

Regime forces have arrested a number of people for “driving unregistered motorcycles” in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights activists, nearly 15 unregistered motorcycle owners were arrested and dozens of motorcycles were impounded.

On September 16, SOHR activists reported that members of the regime’s Criminal Security arrested four pharmacists in Hatla town northern of Deir Ezzor within regime-held areas, for “selling narcotic pills in the town”, while ignoring the manufacturers and providers who provided the narcotics to the town.

Areas held by regime forces and Iranian militias are witnessing widespread of drug trafficking, where drug shipments pass through these areas that are supervised by commanders of Iranian militias, flooding the area with narcotics.

It is worth noting that the percentage of drug users among the youth is drastically increasing.
