Fuel crisis | Dozens of tanks carry Syrian oil from SDF-held areas to regime-held areas

SOHR activists have monitored the gathering of dozens of tanks, loaded with crude oil of “Al-Qaterjy” company, at the entrance of Al-Raqqa side from the eastern side, preparing to be moved to regime-held areas.

Syrian provinces and SDF areas have been witnessing a severe crisis of fuel, in light of the increasing demands for fuel at this time of every year.

On September 22, SOHR activists reported that nearly 350 tankers of Al-Qatarji company, loaded with crude oil, coming from “SDF” controlled areas headed to areas held by Syrian regime via Al-Tayhah crossing in eastern aleppo countryside.

It is worth noting that areas under the control of Syrian regime are hit by a severe fuel shortage despite the arrival of oil tankers at Baniyas mouth nearly a week ago that supply oil to regime-held areas.

On September 15, an oil tanker loaded with 1 million barrels of crude oil docked at Baniyas port.

This was the second shipment of oil that arrive in regime held areas in September in accordance with “Credit Line” agreement reached between the Iranian and Syrian governments early this year 2022, which provides for supplying Syria with Iranian diesel to meet the needs of the market thought regime-held areas.
