Endless tragedy | Four tents burned and elderly man injured in camp for displaced persons north of Idlib

SOHR activists have reported that a fire broke out in “Ghetaa Al-Rahmah” camp for the displaced people, one of a series of Turkish-sponsored camps near Sarmada city, north of Idlib.

One tent was set ablaze, and soon four other tents were devoured next to it, due to the use of primitive cooking methods.

Due to this fire, an elderly person suffered burns and was taken to hospital for treatment. The fire also caused material damage to displaced people’s tents.

It is worth noting that during the summer and with high temperatures, fires frequently break out in the camps for displaced people in northern Syria due to the gas leaks and explosion of solar batteries, causing civilian casualties and material damage.

On August 28, SOHR activists reported that a fire broke out in a camp housing displaced people from Kanaz town in northern Hama countryside in the vicinity of Hayyat Tahrir Al-Sham-controlled Kllali town in the northern countryside of Idlib.

According to SOHR activists, the fire was caused by the leakage of domestic gas from one of the tents, blazing the tent, and three other tents. The fire caused material damage only.
