For deterioration of living conditions | Teachers protest and residents condemn the exploitation of education

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that teachers in Al-Bab city established a sit in camp in front of the “ministry of higher education” in Al-Bab city in eastern Aleppo countryside, demanding improvement of living conditions and a raise in salaries to be suitable with the current financial conditions.

According to reliable SOHR sources, this coincided with the start of school season, which angered the low class of the city, where they accused the teachers to “pressuring the students’ parents to resort to private lessons”, for financial benefit.

On the same context, the parents accused teachers of “ruining the future of thousands of students of low class, who do not have enough money to pay for private lessons therefore being deprived of their education”, and they questioned why the teachers haven’t demanded a raise in their salaries during the annual holiday.

On September 8, SOHR activists reported that teachers staged protests in areas controlled by Turkish forces and their proxy factions in Aleepo countryside, protesting the deteriorating educational quality and poor living conditions of teachers.
According to SOHR activists, dozens of teachers in the towns of Al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, Azaz and Marea’ in the northern countryside of Aleppo, have staged peaceful protests, demanding improvement of their living conditions, raising their wages, and a unified internal system for schools, amid veiled accusations of stealing their salaries and questions about the main source of salaries.
