The regime forces and YPG retake the city of al- Hasakah

 

The regime forces and allied militiamen could retake the neighborhood of al- Zohour at the southern entrance of the city of al- Hasakah. Thus, they and YPG, backed by al- Sanadid Army, could expel IS from the whole southern part of the city of al- Hasakah after 33 days of IS sudden and violent attack on the city in June 25. Meanwhile, the clashes are still taking place in the southern suburbs of the city with IS militants besieged in the area, while the neighborhood of al- Zohour and al- Shari’ah outskirts have been combed looking for IS militants hidden in the area. The clashes and shelling in the last 48 hours resulted in the death of at least 20 IS militants rising the number of IS extremists who were killed due to airstrikes carried out by warplanes and warplanes of the regime air force on the city of al- Hasakah and its vicinity and in clashes with the regime forces and YPG, backed by al- Sanadid Army, has risen to 287, including al- Baraka State wali (governor) Abo Osama al- Iraqi, the ex- wali of al- Kheir State Aamer al- Rafda, dozens of IS militants of Gulf, north African and foreign nationalities, at least 21 militants blowing themselves up using booby-trapped vehicles and 26 children of “cubs of the caliphate”. SOHR also documented the death of at least 120 members of the regime forces, NDF, al-Baath battalions, commandos forces and tribal fighter in clashes with IS, including officers and  non-commissioned officers. In addition to dozens of YPG fighters killed in these clashes and due to detonating booby-trapped vehicles amid secrecy by YPG about its casualties. 

 

It was that the regime forces and allied militiamen from one side and the YPG, backed by al- Sanadid Army, on the other could retake the Sport City, the House of Culture, the children hospital, the Electricity Directorate, al- Ahdath prison, al- Sakan al- Shababi, the neighborhoods of the Eastern Nashwah, al- Layliyyah and Geweran, where the city of al- Hasakah witnessed in the last week advancement for YPG and taking control over neighborhoods that were being seized by the regime forces in the city, reaching to Aasem Baghdi hospital near Filastin Street in the center of al- Hasakah city. In addition to, YPG killed a lieutenant colonel in the Fifth Regiment of the regime forces after a wrangle erupted between YPG fighters and the officer ended by killing the officer near the hospital of Aasem Baghdi. Explosion of 2 booby-trapped vehicles occured before the IS attack on the city, where the first vehicle targeted Asayish positions near Sinalko plant at the outskirts of the neighborhood of Tal Hajar in the northern part of the city of al- Hasakah causing huge material damages and heavy casualties, while the other one targeted the old children hospital which was taken by the regime forces and NDF as headquarter in the neighborhood of al- Nashwah.
