Renewed factional infighting | Clashes intensify between two groups of Al-Hamza Division in Afrin countryside

Aleppo province: Violent clashes with light and medium machine guns have been renewed between Al-Batran and Al-Mari groups operating under the banner of Al-Hamza Division in Basouta village, Sherawa district, Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo

.
According to SOHR activists, the violent clashes have been renewed after a member of “Al-Marai” group died of the injury he sustained today.

Al-Marai group waged an attack on the headquarters of Al-Batran group and managed to gain control of some checkpoints on Jabal Al-Ahlam in Basuta village, amid bringing in military reinforcements by the two groups and blocking all secondary roads to the village.

On October 4, SOHR activists reported that a member of Al-Hamza Division was killed and others were seriously injured in violent clashes with medium and light machine guns between two groups of Al-Hamza Division that erupted in Jabal Al-Ahlam in Al-Basutah village in Shirawa district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo, on Tuesday.

According to SOHR sources, the fighting erupted over disagreements between Al-Batran group and Al-Mari group. The reasons behind the infighting remain unknown, while the two fighting groups brought large military reinforcements to the vicinity of Al-Basutah village.
