At orders by Hezbollah commander | Iranian-backed militias establish airfield for drones in Al-Mayadeen

Deir Ezzor province: Reliable SOHR sources have reported that Iranian-backed militias have brought in machineries to two airports in Deir Ezzor countryside, which had been used by gliders for purposes related to development of agriculture in east Syria.

 

According to SOHR sources, Iranian-backed militias transported heavy diggers and machineries used for construction to those airports in Al-Haydariyah area near Al-Mayadeen city, the “capital” of Iranian-backed militias in east Syria region, with the aim of establishing an airfield for drones.

 

Recently, Iranian-backed militias in east Syria are working on raising the combat abilities and readiness of their militiamen in the region as a part of efforts by the militias to entrench their presence in Syria.

 

On September 29, Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted military exercises at their military camp in Mazare’ Al-Haydariyah, Ain Ali shrine and Mazare’ Issa in Al-Mayadeen in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Nearly 100 Iranian-backed militiamen of Al-Sayyida Zaynab Regiment, the Special Forces Regiment and the 47th Regiment underwent to this course of military exercises, after an Iranian-backed Lebanese commander had arrived in Al-Mayadeen.

 

While on August 31, a commander of the Lebanese Hezbollah, who is known as “Hajj Sajjad,” visited Al-Mayadeen city in Deir Ezzor countryside where he met with Iranian-backed militias’ commanders and ordered them to form Iranian-led cells in east Euphrates region in order to launch attacks on U.S. bases and use kamikaze drone from distances close to the US bases, so that they would not be spotted by ground defences.
