Security operation | Military Police kill suspect in murder of media activist “Abu Ghanum” and arrest another in eastern Aleppo countryside

Aleppo province: Military police in Al-Bab in eastern Aleppo countryside arrested the suspect in the murder of media activist Mohamed Abdullatif, aka”Abu Ghanum,” and his wife last Friday, after chasing the suspect in the streets of Al-Bab city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

According to Syrian Observatory activists, the military police managed to arrest the suspect in the assassination of the journalist “Abu Ghanum” and his wife, and arrested his escort also.

The two arrested men are displaced from Deir Ezzor and operating under the bannerof “Al-Hamza Division” faction led by “Abu Sultan Al-Dairi,” who was an ex-ISIS member.

Following a tracking and manhunt in the alleys and streets of Al-Bab city, an exchange of fire took place between the Military Police and the two men, leaving one of the murder suspect dead and leading to the arrest of the other. The arrested man has been transferred to Al-Bab Al-Jadid hospital.

SOHR activists have reported that members of Al-Hamza Division attempted to attack members of the Military Police at Al-Bab hospital to remove the injured man and help him to escape so that the killer would not reveal more information about the identity of the leader of Al-Hamza Division, who ordered them to kill the journalist Abu Ghanum.

Meanwhile, dozens of civilians have headed to Al-Bab hospital to support Military Police to prevent “Al-Hamza Divison” form helping the killer to escape.

The factions of Al-Jabaha Al-Shamiyyah, Al-Mu’tasim Division, Jaiysh Al-sharqiiyyah and Jaish Al-Islam have brought in large military reinforcements to Al-Bab city and set checkpoints at the entrances and exits of Al-Bab city to prevent the killer from escape.

Moreover, activists and dignitaries in Al-Bab city also demanded that anyone who has a weapon should head to Al-Bab hospital to prevent the smuggling of criminals from the hospital after revealing their identity and subordination to the “Al-Hamza Division.”
