Security chaos | Unidentified persons vandalise and steal school property in SDF-held areas in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: Unidentified persons vandalised and stole the properties of a school of Euphrates Educational Center in SDF-controlled Abu Hamam town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and then they fled.

It is worth noting that the teachers of the Euphrates Center called for the appointment of security guards to protect schools from vandalism and thefts.

 

On October 10, SOHR activists reported that teachers in Dhiban town in SDF-held areas in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside staged a vigil to show their solidarity with other educational centres in Deir Ezzor countryside.

The teachers called on the Education Committee to increase teachers’ salaries, pay the salaries with US dollars, improve the education sector, activate teachers’ unions, allow organisations to operate in educational sector, and appoint school guards.

 

On October 4, SOHR activists reported that several teachers of the educational centre of Gharanij town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, have participated in protests demanding the reconstruction of the Ministry of Education in Deir Ezzor and holding corrupted authority figures responsible, and demanding an increase in their monthly salaries to suit the living conditions and the high prices.

 

According to reliable SOHR sources, those who participated in the protests also demanded payment of maternity salaries for the past year and to allocate a transportation allowance for teachers who were appointed outside their areas, in addition to hiring guards on schools, hiring teachers to fill the existing shortage and directing humanitarian organizations to support education in Deir Ezzor.

 

On September 25, teaching staff and a number of residents of Al-Shuhail town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor participated in a protest to express their rejection of the new

The protestors issued a statement rejecting the curriculum, which the teachers considered unacceptable because of the various violations of religion and customs of society.educational curriculum developed by the “Autonomous Administration” in north-eastern Syria.
