Violent attack | 15 civilians and fighters in ISIS attack on regime positions in Deir Ezzor desert

Deir Ezzor province: Yesterday evening, ISIS members waged a violent attack on Al-Dweir area and the vicinity of Al-Ashara in Al-Bo Kamal desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor in the Syrian desert.

Violent clashes erupted between regime forces and their proxy militias on one hand and ISIS fighters on the other that lasted for a long time, leaving number of casualties.

Nine regime soldiers and their proxy militants were confirmed dead, while three ISIS members were killed, and three civilians were killed and another was critically injured by indiscriminate gunfire during the clashes.

According to SOHR sources, three civilians are working to transport vegetables to Iraq, while the fourth civilian is working to transport livestock.

The death toll is believed to rise because some of the victims are seriously injured, amid reports on more deaths.

 

According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2022 has increased to 344; and they are as follows:

• 148 ISIS members were killed in Russian airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the deserts of Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama, Al-Raqqah, Deir Ezzor and Aleppo.

• 196 members of regime forces and their proxy militias, including 14 Iranian-backed Syrian and non-Syrian militiamen, were killed in 76 operations by ISIS members, including ambushes, armed attacks and explosions, in west Euphrates region and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.

• Four civilians were killed in an attack by ISIS in the Syrian desert.
