IS-IS attack | IS*IS members break into house and clash with family to collect levies in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: Gunmen, believed to be ISIS members, have stormed a civilians’ home in Shuhayil city, east of Deir Ezzor to collect levies.

Clashes with light weapons have broken out between the parties, before the attackers fled on motorcycles to an unknown destination. No further details have been reported about the number of human and material losses so far.

This incident comes in light of the dramatic escalation of ISIS activity in SDF-held areas in northern and eastern Syria.

On October 26, SOHR activists reported that unidentified gunmen, likely to be ISIS members, fired two shells on the water station, which is used by SDF as one of its checkpoints in Al-Zor village in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, causing the eruption of armed clashes.

Moreover, SDF brought military reinforcements to the site of clashes to block the attack on several SDF headquarters in the region. However, no casualties were reported.

SOHR has documented 164 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2022. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 124 persons dead: 47 civilians, including two women and a child, and 77 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces, and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
It is worth noting that these attacks have not included the operation of Ghuwayran prison, which left heavy losses.
