First-ever incident | Protesters throw stones at Coalition patrol in Deir ezzor countryside
Deir Ezzor province: A group of young men have intercepted a patrol of the International Coalition forces in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
The young men have thrown stones at the US vehicles while passing through Jadid Bakara town, east of DeirEzzor, marking the first incident of its kind in SDF-held areas controlled by SDF.
This comes as a way of expressing their resentment over the poor living conditions in SDF-held areas.
The protesters have also threatened to escalate if their demands are ignored.
This morning, SOHR activists reported that dozens of residents of Jadid Bakara village gathered in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor to protest their dire living conditions, blocking roads with burning tyres. The protesters demanded improving living and economic conditions that are burdening them.
On October 24, SOHR activists reported that dozens of residents of towns and villages in Hawaij Boumsma ‘a, Hawaij Dhiab, and Mahimida in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, in areas controlled by SDF took part in popular protests demanding improvement of living and service conditions. The protesters blocked roads with burning tyres.
