Ongoing protests in Deir Ezzor | Autonomous Administration institutions close and hospital suspends work for fear of riots

Deir Ezzor province: The management of the hospital in Jadida Bakarah town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor has suspended work until further notice, coinciding with ongoing public protests against Autonomous Administration institutions, and for fear of riots and attacks on medical personnel.

This comes in light of the run out of medicines provided to the hospital more than six months ago.

Schools and institutions have also closed, due to protests and blocking roads in the town.

On November 1, SOHR activists reported that a group of young men intercepted a patrol of the International Coalition forces in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

The young men threw stones at the US vehicles while passing through Jadid Bakara town, east of DeirEzzor, marking the first incident of its kind in SDF-held areas controlled by SDF.

This came as a way of expressing their resentment over the poor living conditions in SDF-held areas.

The protesters also threatened to escalate if their demands are ignored.

Earlier, SOHR activists reported that dozens of residents of Jadid Bakara village gathered in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor to protest their dire living conditions, blocking roads with burning tyres. The protesters demanded improving living and economic conditions that are burdening them.

On October 24, SOHR activists reported that dozens of residents of towns and villages in Hawaij Boumsma ‘a, Hawaij Dhiab, and Mahimida in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, in areas controlled by SDF took part in popular protests demanding improvement of living and service conditions. The protesters blocked roads with burning tyres.
