After detaining and deporting them to Niger desert | 62 Syrian refugees smuggled to Algeria

SOHR activists obtained new information about the 20 Syrian refugees, who were detained by Algerian authorities to be deported, and news about them striking of food.

According to reliable SOHR sources, Algerian authorities deported nearly 62 Syrian refugees, with nearly 38 of them from Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) countryside, to the Niger desert, where they remained there for a period of time before managing to return again to Algeria, especially to northern of Algeria.

According to sources, the refugees managed to return via smuggling, where each refugee paid 1,200 euros to smugglers in order to smuggle them back to northern of Algeria.

On October 19, SOHR activists reported that nearly 20 Syrian refugees were still on hunger strike for the third day in a row after being arrested by the Algerian authorities to deport them to Niger desert.
Algerian authorities transported the Syrian refugees to Mostaganem prison in Algeria, where the arrestees suffer from dire humanitarian conditions; they are allowed to use the phone for only 5 minutes during the day.
According to SOHR sources, 14 Syrian refugees are from Ain Al-Arab (Kobani), and the rest are from Daraa and Damascus.
