Old ordnance | Child ki-ll-ed in the Daraa countryside, bringing death toll to nearly 100 since early 2022

Daraa province: A child succumbed to wounds he sustained along with four others when an old projectile exploded in Daraa Al-Balad On November 3.

On 3 November, SOHR activists reported that five children were injured by the explosion of an old projectile in Daraa Al-Balad, when they were playing with it. The children have been taken to hospital for treatment.

 

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 192 civilians, including ten women and 98 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2022. In addition, 286 civilians, including 17 women and 166 children, sustained various injuries in the same period. Among the total death toll, a man and his son were killed in the collapse of a war-damaged building in Darya city in Rif Dimashq, four civilians were killed in the collapse of another building in Jubar neighbourhood and a child was killed in the collapse of a house in Adawan in Idlib countryside.
