Security campaign | SDF and smu*gglers trade fire in rural Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: Members of an SDF patrol have stormed the river crossing on the eastern bank of the Euphrates river, before clashes erupted between the patrol’s members and smugglers on the opposite bank near the heart hospital in Deir Ezzor city. However, no casualties have been reported.

It is worth noting that river crossings in Deir Ezzor province experience frequent security campaigns and clashes between SDF and smugglers who use these crossings to smuggle oil products, fuel and goods.

On November 10, SOHR activists reported that a woman threw a grenade at a civilian near Al-Ashara city’s river crossing, due to unknown disputes between them, killing him immediately.

The civilian hailed from Sabikhan city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, and worked in trading fuels.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the woman had a close relationship with members of the National Defence and Al-Qaterjy militias, while she was accused by residents of “involving in thefts in Sabikhan town and Al-Bokamal city.”

While on November 9, SOHR activists reported that medium-intensity explosions were heard in the vicinity of Al-Basira city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, coinciding with a storming campaign by SDF on river crossings connecting between SDF-held areas and areas of regime and Iranian-backed militias, in Huwaija Al-Basira village eastern of Deir Ezzor at the bank of Euphrates river.

According to reliable SOHR sources, SDF members burnt a truck carrying “diesel”, that was set to be smuggled in Huwaija Al-Basira, where armed clashes erupted between SDF and local smugglers, while shells hit Al-Jesr checkpoint in Al-Basira area. However, no casualties were reported.

It is worth noting that “International Coalition” planes were flying over the river crossings opposite to areas of Iranian militias in Deir Ezzor countryside.
