Having suspected of planted IEDs | Turkish forces and engineering units comb Aleppo-Latakia highway

SOHR sources have reported deployment of Turkish military personnel escorted by armoured vehicles and engineering units to detect planted landmines and IEDs on both sides of Aleppo-Latakia highway (M4), along the part from Ariha city in western Idlib countryside to Muhambel town in the same countryside. This comes after Turkish forces having suspected of the presence of IEDs. Meanwhile, Turkish forces are combing the roads which they use periodically.

On November 9, Turkish forces conducted a patrol to inspect their checkpoints deployed in western Aleppo countryside.

The patrol set off from Al-Jinnah checkpoint on Bab Al-Hawa Idlib highway to checkpoints in Termanin and Darat Azza.

It is worth noting that the frontlines in western Aleppo countryside witnessed military escalation for more than two months.

While on October 31, Turkish forces installed an “observation post” in a building in the eastern quarter of Al-Bara town on Sergela road in Jabal Al-Zawiyah, south of Idlib. This coincided with an intensive deployment of Turkish forces in the area.

It is worth noting that the new observation post oversees and watches areas controlled by regime forces in Kafr Nabl forests in Idlib countryside.

On October 9, SOHR activists reported that Turkish forces established a military checkpoint in an important location overlooking the M4 road linking Aleppo and Lattakia within “Putin-Erdogan” area.

According to reliable SOHR sources, Turkish engineering machinery arrived to northern Lattakia countryside, after bringing cement blocks, to establish a military checkpoint on Kabana frontline in Jabal Al-Akrad in northern Lattakia countryside, which is considered a strategic location because it overlooks a wide range of the road linking between Aleppo and Lattakia all the way to Ariha city, Sahl Al-Ghab and the western side of Jabal Al-Zawiyah.

This is the third Turkish base established in Lattakia countryside, after Al-Zaytona base in Jabal Al-Turkman and Al-Hadada in Jabal Al-Akrad.
