Having abducted two weeks ago | Civilian released by armed gang for 10,000 USD west Homs countryside

Al-Suwaydaa province: An armed gang released a resident of Amra village, north-east of Al-Suwaydaa for a ransom of 10,000 USD, after a 16-day kidnapping.

According to Syrian Observatory activists, the civilian was abducted by a gang in the western countryside of Homs while on his way to Lebanon with the help of smugglers on November 3. The members of the gang communicated with the kidnapped’s relatives to obtain a ransom for his release.

It is worth noting that armed gangs are active in the border areas with Syria, where they have carried out arrests and abductions to collect ransoms.

On November 11, SOHR activists reported that unidentified gunmen kidnapped four civilians including a young man from Al-Suwaydaa, while the civilians were collecting logs from Al-Batm forests near Al-Alaly area north western of Al-Suwaydaa. Meanwhile, their fates remained unknown.
