Turkish strikes on SDF-controlled areas | Seven members of SDF and regime forces ki-lled since morning

SOHR activists have documented considerable military escalation by Turkish forces today, Tuesday November 22, on areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration and other positions where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed. Since morning, aerial and ground attacks by Turkish forces on these areas have left seven combatants: four SDF fighters and three regime soldiers, dead.

 

The Turkish attacks targeted positions in tens of villages in an area stretching from Aleppo countryside to the far north-eastern region of Al-Hasakah countryside.

 

Further details of those attacks can be summarised as follows:

 

 

Ground attacks

 

-Areas where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed

 

Three regime soldier were killed in Turkish bombardment on military positions in the northern countryside of Aleppo. Here are further details:

 

  • Two soldiers were killed and others were injured in bombardment on Menagh military airbase.

 

  • A soldier was killed in rocket fire on Tatmarash village in Aleppo countryside.

 

Turkish bombardment targeted positions in 17 villages and towns, they are: Harbal, Al-Sheikh Issa, Tatmarash, Kafr Antoun, Al-Irshadiyah, Mar’anaz, Deir Jamal, Ibbin, Hasajik, Ihris, Tel Ajjar, Kafr Naseh, Al-Baylouniyah, Tel Rifaat city, Al-Alqamiyah, Menagh, Ain Daqnah and Al-Wahshiyah.

 

-Ain Al-Arab Kobani

 

Tens of shells hit positions in the villages of Ashmah and Qarmough in the east of Kobani, Salim village in the west of Kobani and an area stretching to Al-Raqqah countryside, along the border strip between Syria and Turkey.

 

-Al-Raqqah countryside

 

Positions in Tel Abyad and Ain Issa countryside and villages nearby M4 highway came under sporadic artillery fire by Turkish forces and their proxy factions.

 

-Al-Hasakah countryside

 

Turkish ground forces bombarded nearly 30 towns, villages and positions in Al-Hasakah countryside; they can be distributed as follows:

 

  • Tel Tamr countryside in the north-western countryside of Al-Hasakah: the villages of Kozaliyah, Tel Al-Laban, Qabour Qarajinah, Sheikh Ali, Tel Tawilah, Um Al-Kaif and Um Al-Khair

 

  • Abu Rasin countryside in north-western Al-Hasakah: Abu Rasin town and the villages of Dada Abdal, Rebay’at, Tel Al-Ward, Tel Amir, Kisra, Al-Asadiyah, Al-Bobi, Khadrawi and Um Ishbah.

 

  • Amuda district: the villages of Daiki, Tel Kaif, Shourak and Doudan

 

  • Al-Qamishli countryside: the petrol station in Hemu village and Ali Faru in western Al-Qamishli and Tel Zayoun in east Al-Qamishli countryside.

 

  • The villages of Dekri, Rotan, Kirki Shamou which are located to the west of Al-Qahtaniyah and the east of Al-Qamishli, and an oil refinery at the western entrance of Qahtaniay town.

 

Moreover, the Turkish bombardment caused material damage to civilian properties and triggered displacement of civilians from villages on the Syria-Turkey border to safer areas.

 

 

Ongoing airstrikes

 

Turkish fighter jets resumed their strikes on north and east Syria, targeting Kaniye Kordan area on the outskirts of Ain Al-Arab city (Kobani) and a hill where regime forces are deployed. Three explosions were heard in those positions, but no casualties have been reported.

 

 

Four SDF fighters killed in five airstrikes

 

SOHR activists documented five strikes by Turkish fighter jets today, November 22, which left four members of SDF and affiliated military formations dead. Here is a summary of these airstrikes:

 

  • A Turkish drone struck an SDF military post in Dobayb village in western Tel Tamr in the western countryside of Al-Hasakah, to the south of Al-Aliyah silos. The attack killed an SDF fighter and injured other.

 

  • Turkish fighter jets struck a post overlooking Abyad road near the administrative border between Al-Hasakah and Al-Raqqah, a few kilo metres away from Deir Ezzor province. The strikes left a member of the SDF-backed commandos forces and injured another.

 

  • A Turkish drone targeted Uja village in Tel Tamr countryside in north-western Al-Hasakah, injuring two combatants.

 

  • A Turkish drone struck two positions in north-eastern Al-Hasakah, precisely a post which is located to the south of Oudah oil filed and an affiliated post near Laylan village in the south-west of Al-Qahtaniyah. The attack caused considerable damage to the targeted sites, where plumes of smoke were seen.

 

  • A Turkish drone struck a military base where joint forces of the International Coalition and Counter-terrorism Units are stationed in Istrahet Wazeer area in the north of Al-Hasakah city. According to SOHR source, the attack left two members of the Counter-terrorism Units dead and three others seriously injured. It is worth noting that anti-ISIS campaigns are set off from this base.
