SOHR: Turkish Jets hit Syria’s al-Hol Camp, IS-linked Families Escaped

A suspected Turkish airstrike reportedly on Wednesday targeted notorious al-Hol camp in northeast Syria (Rojava), as a result of which a number of Islamic State (IS) families have escaped from the camp.

“Turkish warplanes target the internal security forces that are responsible for protecting Al-Hol camp; as a result; some ISIS families could flee from the camp,” Farhad Shami, a spokesperson for the SDF, wrote on Twitter, adding that their forces “are chasing them at the moment.”

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), Turkey has conducted 12 airstrikes on Hasakah and Aleppo since Wednesday morning, leaving at least five people killed.

“These airstrikes hit oil and gas facilities, causing human and material losses,” the war monitor reported, noting that four oil and gas facilities in Al-Hasakah countryside and SDF office in a Russian base were targeted.

Aram Hanna, a spokesperson of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a Twitter statement: “The Turkish occupation army targets the vicinity of the Jerkin prison in Qamishlo, which holds the ISIS terrorist detainees.”

“A Turkish occupation UAV (drone) targeted the domestic gas plant in the Jal Agha area, east of Qamishli,” Hanna confirmed in a statement. “In addition, the Turkish warplanes conducted four raids on the village of Ali Agha in Tal Kochar, north and east of Syria.”
