Days after striking settlement deal | University student di*ed under torture in military security prison in Homs

Homs province: SOHR activists have documented the death of the university student known by his initials as (M. H.) under torture at the Military Security Branch in Homs city.

According to SOHR sources, the university student was arrested by members of the Military Security Branch stationed at their checkpoint in Homs, a few days after striking settlement deal in Homs city.

Nearly ten members of the military security forces beat him and took him while he was fainted to the Military Security Branch in Homs, on the order of the head of the branch, where the victim was tortured to death.

It is worth noting that the victim’s father refused to receive his son’s body and appealed to the head of the regime for attention and knowledge of the circumstances of the incident in accordance with Syrian law.

It is worth noting that the “settlement” committee informed the young man after checking his name that there was no arrest warrant or security prosecution against him.

Accordingly, the number of civilians who died under torture in regime prisons which has been documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights since the beginning of 2022 has risen to 96 including two dissident army officers and 38 people from Eastern Ghouta whose death certificates were delivered by regime to their families in February.
