Second day in row | Tense calm prevails in northern and eastern Syria

For the second consecutive day, Syrian Observatory activists have monitored a cautious calm along the frontlines between Kurdish forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on one side, and Turkish forces and National Army factions on the other, in the northern countryside of Aleppo, Kobani, northern Al-Raqqah and north and north-west of Al-Hasakah, except for a few shells that hit positions, and trade fire of individual weapons between the members of two parties.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, SDF also fired several rockets at faction checkpoints in Aniq Al-Hawa area of Tel Tamr countryside amid an exchange of shelling that took place in the area soon it stopped.

Yesterday, SOHR activists monitored a series of Turkish ground shelling on SDF-held areas in NE Syria.

In Al-Hasakah, Turkish forces and their proxies shelled Shaikh Fatimy and Hamidiyah villages in eastern Abo Rasen countryside northern of Al-Hasakah, and artillery shells hit Tel Al-Laban south western of Tel Tamr town and Al-Shor village in Abo Rasen countryside north western of Al-Hasakah. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

In Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) eastern of Aleppo, Turkish forces fired artillery shells on Qarmogh, Jijan, Zor Maghar and Jarikly villages in the west and Qoran village eastern of Ain Al-Arab in eastern Aleppo countryside.

In Al-Raqqa, Turkish forces and their proxies shelled Zanobiyah and Abo Sora villages in western Ain Eissa in Al-Raqqa countryside.

In northern Aleppo countryside, Turkish forces and their proxies shelled Soghanky village in Shirawa district in Afrin countryside within areas held by Kurdish and regime forces north western of Aleppo, in addition to Al-Mayasa and Abin villages in Shirawa district north western of Aleppo. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

It is worth noting that alarming calm has been witnessed in all areas in NE Syria for two days, after the extensive Turkish shelling on most areas of western, north western and north eastern Al-Hasakah countryside, northern Al-Raqqa countryside and northern and north eastern Aleppo countryside, where these areas are currently witnessing complete absence of clashes, shelling and attacks between Turkish forces on one hand and SDF, regime and Kurdish forces on the other hand.
