NE Syria | Artillery fire interrupts tense calm prevailing for fourth consecutive day

SOHR activists have reported that artillery fire has targeted several positions in north-east Syria, interrupting the tense calm which has been prevailing in that region for four consecutive day.

According to SOHR sources, several shells hit positions in the villages of Tel Sha’ir, Jarqali, Sheyoukh Fuqani, Zor Magharah and Ahmed Munir Farm in Ain Al-Arab (Kobani).

Similarly, several shells hit regime positions in Ziyyarah village in Ain Al-Arab countryside (Kobani), but no casualties have been reported.

Also, Turkish forces have shelled the villages of Tel Laban and Tawilah villages in Al-Hasakah countryside.

In Al-Raqqah, however, Turkish forces and SDF exchanged artillery fire in Ain Issa district and Qaz’ali village in Tel Abyad countryside in northern Al-Raqqah.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the injury of two regime soldiers, where a Turkish kamikaze drone attacked a regime military post in Koran village, east of Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

It is worth noting that Turkish forces started the military escalation in the evening of November 19 through attacking areas in north and east Syria with tens of airstrikes and hundreds of artillery shells. The bombardment and airstrikes subsided gradually until they were halted on November 28.
