Armed fighting | Drug traffickers close to Hezbollah clash with civil police in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that clashes have erupted with medium and light weapons between a leader of “National Defence” militia close to Hezbollah and the Iranian-backed militia of “Abu Talass” and members of a “civil police” patrol in Tabab Al-Jura neighbourhood in Deir ezzor.

According to SOHR sources, “Abu Talass, one of the leaders of “National Defence” group, is one of the most prominent “drug” traffickers close to “Hezbollah” and Iranian-backed militias in the area.

The clashes have erupted following a raid campaign by civil police on the drug trafficer’s home.

On November 18, SOHR sources reported that clashes erupted between a group of the 4th Division and members of the National Defence Forces in Al-Asharah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The clashes, which followed disagreements over drug trafficking, left several members on both sides injured.
